Open Source Ecology Germany e.V. was founded on 13 March 2016 and will have its 10th anniversary in 2026. We want to celebrate!
The association acts as a legal body and networking platform for the development of standards and pilot projects for open source hardware in Germany. The original idea of establishing a non-profit structure for Open Source Ecology (OSE) in Germany has developed into a lively network of projects, OpenEcoLabs and committed members.

On 13 March 2016, our association was founded as a formal contact point for open source ecology in Germany – exactly 10 years ago.
The association is a tool for promoting shared values such as transparency, sustainability and collective innovation, as a network that connects stakeholders and as a common framework that provides legal, organisational and financial support for projects. What began as a vision is now a living network for sustainable, open technology. We want to celebrate this milestone in style!

Friday, 13 March – Sunday, 15 March 2026
Berlin – at the headquarters of our association, the Open Culture Office.
- Friday evening, 13 March: Arrival & Meetup – We commemorate the founding together. Old hands tell us how it all began and we exchange ideas over food and drinks.
- Saturday, 14 March: Annual General Meeting – looking back, looking ahead and helping to shape the future of Open Source Ecology Germany e.V. – including new elections to the Board of Directors.
- Sunday, 15 March: Inspiring contributions – demo tables, barcamp and exciting discussions on open source hardware.
It’s our anniversary – and your invitation to be part of it. Whether you are a newcomer or a veteran: bring your ideas, your enthusiasm and your stories! A good opportunity to join the association.
